New Smyrna Beach is a beautiful beach town that is located east of Orlando, Walt Disney World and Kissimmee by about 45 minutes. It is just a few minutes north of Titusville, Cocoa Beach, Edgewater and just south of Daytona Beach and Palm Coast. The Mosquito Lagoon, in Oak Hill, is the main center body of water that is fished here. The Indian River Lagoon system is also part of this. The Mosquito Lagoon is a few minutes from Port Canaveral, Rockledge, Sebastian, and the cruise lines as well. This is very well centered in east central Florida.

It is world known for having strong ties to America's space race in the early days of NASA. It still has a very big connection with the United States Air Force, now known as the USA Space Force and the Kennedy Space Center. While here you may be able to see one of the many rocket launches that are done periodically and almost daily. Just Google it, the launch you are looking to see, we may be able to sync a flats fishing trip along with it and view it from the water.

Bottle nose dolphin, west Indies manatee, both logger head and green sea turtles, and coastal birds live within the Mosquito Lagoon as well. During the winter time, the bird population climbs by the thousands as many species migrate here from the colder northern areas. This is also a photographers dream come true.

Light Tackle Saltwater Flats Fishing Titusville
Titusville is located east of Orlando, Kissimmee and Disney. Known for the great American Space Coast, NASA, SpaceX and the Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County. However on top of that, it is also home to some of the greatest backcountry light tackle flats fishing east central Florida has to offer. A destination not to be overlooked while here in Florida.
Fishing here is done on the Indian River, Banana River, Port Canaveral, Ponce Inlet and Mosquito Lagoon located inside the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore. These two areas make up a small part of NASA and has been set aside for the publics use. It is more than 500 square miles large and is primitive.
Backcountry Tarpon Fishing Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach is a small beach town located just a few miles east of Orlando and Disney. For the locals it is a surf capital. Cocoa Beach is a major destination for a holiday family stay with a lot to do. If you get a chance come here for some of the best sights to see and things to do along with a tarpon trip.
Fishing here is a prime area for the tarpon in east central Florida, both big and small ones. Very big bull redfish and some very nice snook are known for this area as well. The tarpon are here from April up through November pretty much, with summer being outstanding for them. The big bull redfish and snook are here year round.
